Cool

Currently- I have 4 guitars.
I usually have 3 to 5 in the house.

But- I have been considering going down to 2.
One acoustic and one electric...

Mainly because my play time is so limited :/.
2 would be fine for now.

Until a few weeks ago I'd have proudly answered YES to your question. I had just one guitar and didn't want any others.

But then I was faced with taking my "one" with me on a couple vacation trips where I knew there would not be any way to control the temperature and humidity and I also have an upcoming period where "the One" will be having some work done. So I went out and acquired a travel/backup guitar just to have in those situations.

I still kind of think of myself as a one-guitar guy but there are actually two these days. Sigh.

I am cursed with retirement and have dwindled down to one guitar, a 12 fret IRW.
I do find myself looking at the classified ads on AGF, but have resisted the GAS thus far.

I could get by with only one as long as I'm not gigging, but when things open back up I'll probably have to find my Tele (it's in a closet someplace) and (if I have a gig to pay for it) another pedal steel. I'd have a hard time deciding between my 000-18 and the new Brook Lyn I have coming next month.

Yes, AGF may have spurred many guitar acquisitions for me . No regrets though.

Puddleglum (OP), a 12 string is a great idea. Side note, why did you get rid of your electrics?

I'm currently a one guitar man. I've always kept an electric and an acoustic guitar on hand, but I decided to give my grandson my Les Paul Standard for Christmas. He LOVES the guitar. He plays it, ogles and polishes it whenever he's here.

I've drifted away from playing electric guitar over the past few years and as much as he loves it, it just makes sense to give it to him. I've considered selling it and we could use the money, but knowing how happy it's going to make him is worth more to me than the monetary gain.

I have five at the moment. Two are for sale, three are keepers. Swell, maybe the other two are keepers too, not sure yet. But the other three are definite keepers, unless I keep one of the first two and sell one of the keepers. But maybe since I just read about the Mojotone-NC1, and since I just tested it, maybe that little beater I'm selling will become the next angel (from Montgomery) - or maybe I better keep 'em all and foray into a sixth one - of course, I WILL go back to just one or two (or three), depending on my post-retirement-music-legend-career, just need another one or maybe two to do a genuine comparison on sound and how it will transmit to the bar full of twenty-somethings who aren't listening to me, or my several million hours of practice, 'cause they're just tryin' to drink some cheap beer like a PBR (my fave) and maybe find a date.....

I'd give up .... but I just saw a great deal on a Goodall TROM, and if I can just get that one NOW, instead of waiting til my others sell (or not), then that one will be THE ONE. Or maybe that J45 I been ogling in a mildly lewd, questionable way.....

Yeah, that TROM'll hook 'em...

Thanks, AGF. Thanks a lot.

As usual, ymmv.

You must be the best grandpa ever! Im sure he'll love it and cherish that gibson forever, cheers!

I play my Yamaha FG830 almost exclusively, I've just fallen in love with the neck and string spacing, much easier for fingerstyle, but I take my old D16 out and remember why i'm never getting rid of it!

1? No.

I have 11 and I could get that down to 4 with a new one added in 2022, so 5 in total would be my minimum.

Thank you, but that title has to go to my grandpa.

I've had a Yamaha FGX800C for about a month now and I have nothing but good things to say about it.
