Video: Kopp AJ vs Froggy Bottom SJ
Saying goodbye to my 2015 Kevin Kopp Advanced jumbo (Adirondack / Madagascar) and coincidentally entering just this weekend is a new (to me) 2012 Froggy Bottom SJ deluxe.
Both outstanding instruments, and similar enough to pique my interest in doing a comparison video. I’m interested to see what you think about them and their similarities and differences.

Both lovely guitars. I much prefer the thicker, warmer sound of the Froggy, but that's obviously a personal bias. Good trade!

I am not good at describing but what I hear, but my ears prefer the AJ. Both are very good sounding instruments!

I was admiring the Froggy Bottom guitars at the Artisan Guitar Show—they were so exquisitely crafted. That said, if I had to make a buying decision based purely on your demo video, I would buy the Kopp. It could be that it just records better, but it just sounds so full, punchy and clear. KK’s craftsmanship is first-rate, too. Ultimately, hard to go wrong with either guitar.

There is no wrong answer there. I like both of them and would be happy with either.

I much prefer the Kopp, beautiful tone with the added clarity and punch Madi imparts (which to my ear is often somewhere between Indian rosewood and mahogany). The Froggy has a thicker, darker tone but lacks the definition of the Kopp. The Kopp also looks absolutely beautiful with that burst.
