Bigger question: why do threads like this get so much attention at AGF.

Simple. They allow for the Airing of Grievances.

I know that if you want to continue to make good guitars, you must first stay in business. For Harley Davidson and some good guitar companies, it means you need to expand your operation to include selling things that your followers would like to have (I have a Martin tee shirt and ashtray that I like). It sounds like the Martin turntable is half-way decent, but not state of the art. If people want to buy them, that is ok with me. I wonder though if Chris Martin were still running the company, whether he would have approved of a turntable like that.
Considering that the PDA guitar was Chris Martin’s idea, I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions.

Given that this is limited to a small run of 25 turntables, I don’t think the money Martin will make from the is remotely material.

It is tiresome, but it’s cheaper than therapy for the habitual kvetchers.

I love that story and hope it's true, because "the Egress" sounds like something really worth seeing. "Yeah who cares about the three-headed wombat, I wanna go see the Egress!"

I'm holding out for the Edison Vintage Re-imagined models.

Why would you think they are kidding? You can get cheaper and you can get more expensive. The one regret I have, along with many others, is getting rid of my vinyl several years ago. I was sucked into the cd is better vibe and got suckered big time. no matter what anyone tries to tell me vinyl sounds better than processed cd's or streaming.

When cd's was first hitting the market my buddy told me, "listen to that, it's perfect". I told him it is okay but something is missing that I can't put my finger on.

As far as Martin and turntables? This is no different than other manufacturers with their products.

All humor aside, this appears to be another model of the U_Turn Audio turntable. I’ve been using one of their Orbit models for many years now, and I find it quite acceptable. Granted, I bought mine for somewhere around $250, which is a far cry from the Martin branded one.
