Except for my left arm which is sorta just hanging out there in space.
Any cool ideas for some type of left arm rest besides a stack of pillows?
I don't know anything about your body configuration. One way to hasten the onset of neck and lower back problems is to get struck on the couch playing guitar in a flexed forward position. The degeneration of your lower cervical spinal segments causes misfiring of the nerves to your shoulder, arms, and hands, often one side more than the other. Change your posture! Play standing for awhile, sit on a piece of furniture that Supports your lumbar spine for awhile, then slump in your comfortable couch. Don't say you weren't warned.

Always more funny when it is the other guy, huh?
I am waiting on the next doc appointment to confirm the need for a complete shoulder replacement(s).
(s) as in both.
Wolf of the River: Why do you "need" bilateral shoulder repacements? Car racing with Tony Stewart? Please explain/elaborate.

I didn't say that having a disability was a joke and you know that.

If you have shoulder problems then I'd look into guitar supports that are designed for stage use. I believe there's one that supports the entire guitar; perhaps it could be adapted for sitting use.

Good luck with your shoulder.

I intended this to be a honest question about "some device" (?) that maybe as a new player, I was unaware of.
I have seen something here designed to help hold the acoustic guitar while playing in a seated position.
My take was that it was for fat people.
I am not fat, but I am disabled, so neither is funny to me.
While 90% of my playing is sitting on my couch, that is my choice.
And most of the time my playing is not really uncomfortable.
I was simply thinking, as I was sitting back and strumming some old song to mainly keep the callouses going...
If something was to be holding my left arm up, well, we could go at this for hours?

I have two: a desktop model and a stand-alone model. Both fold up compactly for storage.

You may be able to find a cylindrical pillow at Pier One, Cost Plus or similar. If need be, you may want to try an additional pillow underneath it, for added height.
Thank you.
