I name my strings every time I change them, and give them all last rites and a proper send-off after I unwind them from the tuning pegs. At least a few sets of my strings have been recycled and come back as something else, so it seems to work...

wow, i forgot about bridge pins. i name my guitars, cases, endpins, strings, capos and picks! and, now i find out that i have to name my frets too???!!!
oh, and my plants and cars!
