I've got a bit of a G.A.S problem
I thought I was done buying guitars for a while and recently YouTubers introduced me to the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson J45 and I love it. I've never owned a Gibson anything and didn't know much about Epiphone until I watched J.P. Cormier review the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson guitars https://youtu.be/nsX4tx2WPmQ
Recently I bought an Epiphone Inspired by Gibson (IBG) J45. I liked it so much I bought an IBG J200 and I have the IBG Hummingbird on order from Sweetwater they are currently on backorder. IMG_5425.jpg A few weeks ago I attempted to do a guitar review on my J45 it's only the 3rd review I've done and it was fun here's the video https://youtu.be/SPLBtkzTtvA Do you have a G.A.S problem? I'm looking for support Last edited by Lkristians; 09-29-2021 at 12:12 PM. Reason: Can't drive members to competing site. |

The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson guitars are very tempting indeed. For the cost of one Gibson you can acquire several that are by most accounts very close to the real thing. I don’t blame you for your GAS in this case.

I agree and for the price, I paid for these I'm not afraid to take them out to local gigs and I won't have a heart attack if something hits it. If I was a professional musician I might think differently.

As the owner of an older 2012 Epiphone EJ-200 and a newer 2020 Gibson SJ-200 I was really impressed with the upgrades Epiphone made with their new 'Inspired by Gibson' series and wondered if they closed the tone gap between my EJ-200 and SJ-200.
I played as many clips as I could find and the new Epiphone IBG that impressed me the most was the Hummingbird. Worked out a deal with hard case ... and have not been disappointed! p.s. My Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 cost me nearly 7.5 times more than my new Epiphone IBG Hummingbird with hard case here in Australia!

Just don't play mandolin. Because then you'll have a MAS problem hahhaha

It's hard to find fault with those IBG Epiphone's. I'd prefer a 1 3/4" nut and I suppose that's why I haven't pursued one. They do sound great. Glad they work for you. It's hard not to have GAS for those guitars!

I wish they made these with the same nut size/ string spacing as the gibsons.
Weird that they wouldn't.

Yep, the Epiphone IBGs are nice guitars. I bought one a few months ago from a local shop, and it sounded good out of the box. Once it breaks in, it'll sound even better. Is is in the neighborhood soundwise of my old Gibson J-35 Reissues (I wish I hadn't gotten rid of the last one )? Not quite, but it still has that dry bark the Gibson jumbos have, that I like so much, and my IBG J-45 even did a great job filling in for my 12-string a few weeks ago during mass, playing with a local church band.
