In my search I found this Bourgeois
I've been looking for a 12 fret cutaway and ran across this Bourgeois at Acoustic Music Works:http://acousticmusicworks.com/acoust...taway-koa-6345
Nice video demo but would have to buy it without trying it. Adi top with flamed koa back n sides. |

If the return policy is good I would do it. The store has a great reputation.

What is it that you like about this guitar -- that makes it stand out?
I've never played a koa Bourgeois, but it seems like an interesting wood combination. Bourgeois' tend to be a bit dark -- the video suggests that the koa adds a pronounced treble. |

If you're wanting a 12 fret cutaway, I imagine you should resign yourself to buying without first playing. Few shops would be keeping them on-hand.

Bourgeois is a brand I'd feel comfortable buying without having played if first. In fact, I've done just that and was very pleased with what I got. It's a different guitar from the model you're looking at (slope dread "banjo killer" in Sitka and mahogany) but a great guitar.

Agreed that Bourgeois is a brand I would be comfortable buying without trying. Goodall and Froggy Bottom are two more (although I don't think I've seen a Goodall 000 with a cutaway).
Still, that's no small amount of money; and the return policy is important if you're not familiar with Bourgeois. You can also find FB H12's with cutaways available in the same ballpark (some are a little more). |

Thanks for the encouragment
I like the adi top and also the saddle spacing, his thumb pick and fingernails may give it an extra top end but I like that the sound is direct.
I'm also looking for a Collings 0001ac but maynot find a used one in the near future, both seem similar in sound and price with the Bourgeois being harder to find used. |

I bought a Bourgeois Vintage OM without playing it. It's been a dream to own. I would go for it. Dana's guitars never disappoint. I'm about to buy another.

That looks like a beauty and I agree with what others have said. This is a brand that you can buy without playing, if you are familiar with the sound, feel and build of other Bourgeois guitars. The Koa might sound a little unfamiliar, but odds are in your favor by a long shot.

I traded for a Bourgeois OMC Madagascar/Sitka sight unseen, wonderful guitar. Love the pleasing voice.

Feel free to call us at the shop 1-6:30 EST if you want to talk more about the guitar!
Our return policy is pretty standard, 48 hour return period, buyer pays return shipping, 3% restocking fee if a credit card was used. No restocking fee for check, cash, money order or bank wire transfer. Bourgeois makes excellent guitars, we are one of their top dealers. Koa is not easy to come by these days, and this one has an excellent set! Quote:

Thanks
Yup, saw that one and it's so tempting but it has a 1 3/4 nut and the 2 3/16 saddle, so close.
