As I posted earlier, list is $5199, * .6 = $3120, he saved over $1300.

The $3999 people keep throwing around is MAP.

The seller was really nice and knew exactly how good of a deal I was getting but said he already owns 3 or 4 high end guitars. He wasn't the original owner and he said he purchased it for really cheap from someone that knew very little about guitars with the intent of flipping it.

$1800 for a $4000 guitar.... all I can say is if you live in a larger metro area keep an eye on Craigslist
Congrats, you got a heck of a deal.
I'm guessing the case came with it? I hope.

As far as getting a new one for $600 more, I say BS.

Just for my own clarity, the 40% off MSRP is the offer a sponsor/dealer can offer for a new Martin?

Oh...I stand corrected.

He's mistaken. The best you'll do on that guitar brand new looks to be about $3120.

DUDE congrats! I told my wife, "How come this kind of stuff never happens to me?" But I'm glad it worked out for you. That is an incredible guitar, and you don't have to worry about putting the first ding on it! Enjoy every note!

Thanks again for all the help and encouragement in this thread! This is my first Martin and my first solid wood acoustic.

I've been playing for almost 20 years and at various times in my life I've had nice-ish guitars but I sold them when I became interested in electric guitar. I only got back into playing acoustic a couple years ago after buying a 60s Silvertone parlor guitar for $14 from Goodwill. It's a fun little blues box but in no way a serious guitar.

So, in other words, this is a HUGE upgrade for me!

Have fun with it and glad you got a great deal. On the plus side too you don’t need to worry about the inevitable first ding!

Driving a car around with insurance, buying a possible lifetime instrument without warranty.....And the obvious, used guitar sales don't help dealers like you.

On another note I played my OM I got from you moments ago and it sounds better and better. Thanks!!

Regards
