Default 1999 Taylor K22

Hello AGF,
Curious if anyone out there own or has owned a Taylor K22? I played one today and was kinda smitten. It felt inspiring. It is the Pre NT neck and is in Very Good condition. It’s listed for 2k and while I do need another guitar, I find myself thinking about it.

Anybody?

I know that my 99 K14 is possibly my best guitar. IMO, no new Taylors come close to it.

1999 Taylor K22

waterlooz,

I don't have a '99 K22, but I am a Taylor fan. And if you are worried about the '99 NT neck, I have a '99 Taylor 355 12 string that I bought brand new then and it is still in great shape today. Neck is fine and plays very easily.

I will admit to mostly keeping it tuned down a semitone to 'D#', but it sounds better there and I've owned 12 strings going back to the 60s, when the mfrs said to tune 'em down to 'D'. So old habits die hard on my part.

Might be a bit expensive, but the "It felt inspiring." part of your message says a lot to me. And Taylor probably used some reallly great wood on it. Early on, Koa was kind of new on the tonewood scene. And I think their Grand Concerts are mini-masterpieces.

I say "Go for it." And yes, this is a site full of enablers but that sounds like it's a nice instrument that maybe already has a piece of your heart.

One last thing. The case that came with my '99 355 is the best case that Taylor has offered. Not wood, and form fit to the instrument inside. I use case humidifiers (Oasis), and this case seals tight and really keeps the humidity inside during the New England winter dry heating season.

Be well and play well too,

Don
.

I would say, go play once more if you have a chance; if you still like it, buy it..

I have a few 90’s Taylor; they are relatively lightly-built compared to ‘newer Taylor. The 90 ones are louder, more resonant, and “sweeter”.
