Post W10ce VS 710ce

Can someone who has played both of these models please describe the differences in sound. I have played the 710ce but have not played the W10ce. I am about to purchase my first Taylor and I really like the look of the W10 and I love the sound of the 710. I don't want to purchase a W10 and be dissapointed in the sound.

Thnx!

I am assuming we are talking about 2001 model comparison. The Rosewood-Spruce has a deeper bluegrass sound whereas the Walnut -Spruce has a brighter sound. Walnut produces a very unique sound which sounds like nothing else. I would definitely play one before I bought one, but you can't go wrong either way. dink

Here's some relatively ignorant feedback for you; I haven't played either 710 or W10!

My experience with comparing 714, 814, and W14 might help a LITTLE, though.

I'll second Dink's comments, rosewood will be fuller, deeper, more "blended". I've only tried a few Walnut guitars, but they've struck me as being very transparent and pure. It's hard to describe really. More clarity between the individual strings. I'm not sure "brighter" is exactly the right word, but it certainly does have less bottom end than rosewood.

I loved the W14 I played, and would have bought it over my 714 if I could have afforded the difference. But that was a GA for mixed fingerstyle and light strumming. For flatpicking or heavy strumming, you'd really have to play one of each to see which tone your ears prefer. Like Dink said, they're both great, but quite different.

I believe Paul has hit the nail on the head. He has verbalized and described the difference between the 2 woods well. His description is exactly what I hear. dink
