Curt Mangan strings

A luthier put a set on an old guitar I bought that needed the bridge reglued. Not sure which specific model, but they sound real nice.

I've been using his strings for many months now and they not only sound great but they last a very long time with proper care.

Been using Curt's strings for over 5 years and LOVE them.
Excellent tone.
Very long lasting.
And the pricing is better than the big brands.

I',m wiyth K50 o these strings - use both 12s and 13s mostly in 80/20, sometimes PB if I want variety ! Excel;lent edgy tone on my Gibsons. Haven't had my Martin long enough to have even changed out the 13 Lifespans that it vcam with last summer, buy will soon equip it with a set of Curt Mangan 13' 80/20s and see if those are good on Rosewood. too.

DD and others who have played both the 80/20 and the PB Mangan strings: Please comment on the differences between the two. Are the 80/20 strings brighter than the PB (as one would expect), and if so, by how much?

I tried them for a while and liked them a lot on both my maple/spruce Angus F-40 and my redwood/mahogany Goodall Grand Concert...

I found that, on the Goodall, that when they began to "lose it" - about 3 weeks in - the tone was all over the place on that particular guitar; some strings were louder than others, and everything sounded out of balance... when they were new, they were VERY loud, great, even tone and a nice feel...

On my maple/spruce Angus, they had the same characteristics when new, and even as they got a bit older, they still sounded wonderful...

So, I'm a fan, of sorts... just sorry that the prices went up, at least on Strings and Beyond. The Mangans don't last anywhere near as long as Elixirs, and at their price point, it just doesn't make sense to use them, not for me at least.

The Elixir Nanoweb phosphor bronze sets last me up towards 6 months, while I was hard pressed to get more than 6 weeks from the Mangans... I used the Fusion-Matched phosphor bronze Mangan strings...

I use the 'Matt Schofield' set on the Strat all the time, but never tried the acoustic strings yet.
Love them. Won't use anything else.

I love biting into a snappy crisp apple.The Curt Mangan 80/20s evoke that sensation from my Gibsons. They are bright I guess, thats one descriptor I suppose, The Curt Mangan PBs are astoundingly good strings too, I guess a bit less raw edge top the sound when new compared to the 80/20s.

Tone-wise I think that Curt Mangan strings are among the best. My ears hear high output, and rich solid tone.
On the other hand, the feel of Mangan strings is not to my liking. I perceive that they are stiffer and rougher and frankly just don't play as easily as other brands. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I don't think so.

I tried these strings and also found them rough and stiff feeling so I could never really bond with them. I tried two different gauges on two different guitars and then concluded they just weren't for me.
