I have heard various songs from this album for years. I think it is time to add this one to my collection. Marty certainly had a nice voice and I love the songs that I have heard from this album. Would like to hear the whole album from beginning to end. Thanks for mentioning this one.

Michael Martin Murphy does some good stuff. I enjoy the old songs. Sons of the pioneers has good stuff also.

GREAT album!!!

TERRIBLE shooting example!!!!

(Marty, with finger on trigger while drawing, gun still holstered, is about to put one through his calf! For those paying attention...)

Still, GREAT album!!!

The hat's a bit suspect too. I'm startin' to wonder if Marty was even a real cowboy.

We listen to a lot of Don Edwards in our home...I see he was mentioned, as was the recently departed Zen Cowboy, Chuck Pyle.

We're lucky to call both friends...and they are magnificently talented guys...the best of the best, in slightly different genres...

Sung to the tune of "The Streets of Laredo":
"I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy --
I see by your outfit you are a cowboy, too.
We see by our outfits that we are both cowboys,
If you get an outfit you can be a cowboy too."

Joni Mitchell and Willie Nelson did a wonderful updating of "Cool, Clear Water" by the Sons of the Pioneers (who provided a lot of songs in a lot of John Ford westerns). Likewise, Bobby Weir and the Grateful Dead used to do wonderful things with John Philips' "Me and My Uncle," as well as Marty Robbins' "El Paso."

Tumbling Tumbleweeds
This song always puts a smile on my face, especially this version by the wonderful Punch Bros:

This one is not my favorite but needs to be included.

Gratuitous use of a 12 string...

Okay. Having done that... here is an absolute favorite of mine. The performance and the recording of it are stellar.

Country music was on the radio in my house a lot growing up and Eddie Arnold was one of my mom's favorites. Thanks for including this one!

Best,
Jayne
