Tan Lines on a Hog
Have had my GSmini for two months. Tonight I took off the pickguard to install a Bill Nichols custom. Tan line! The white edges are residual glue, but the rest of the top is definitely darker.
This color change makes me anticipate the aging process even more. I adore the color of naturally aged mahogany. For pics of the rest of my mini-mod, see the Upgrades thread.

I had my mini for about a month before pulling the pickguard, although, worth noting is that it's a 2014 serial number purchased in fall of 2015. The tan line wasn't quite as significant as yours, but it definitely had too much of a tan to not put a pickguard back on (which is to say, I had always intended to replace the pickguard but was interested in how it would look naked.) My tan lines were seen better in different lights/angles, but still noticeable if you were looking for them.
I've wondered if the spruce tops are tanning as much as the hog tops. |
