The loudest Taylor
Hello friends,
This week it happened twice ! Last sunday I was leading worship in an all acoustic setting with a guy who played an old Yamaha 12 string (with only 6 strings on it),and do you know what ? I could hardly hear myself playing. OK he played very hard and I already knew that my 510 short scale wasn't as powerfull as a standard scale , but the difference was so important ! Yesterday it happened again ! I was playing in an all acoustic setting with a flute and a cello and do you know what ? I could hardly hear myself playing ! So here is my question: what is in your experience the LOUDEST TAYLOR of all ? Thank you. Christophe |

Taylor jumbos.
My Koa/Englemann jumbo is good and loud (with great finesse as well). I imagine a Rosewood jumbo might be even louder.

Are you using a foldback to begin with?
It sounds like a volume control issue with the various instruments rather than a particular guitar being 'weak' as such.

It all depends on the guitar. I've played Jumbos that are loud, x10's that are loud, and GS's that are loud. And I've played those that aren't. However, finding a GA or GC that really whomps it up will be more difficult.

I have eight Taylors and the 714-CE (cedar/rosewood) howls. GS-R/S is a close second.

I will second green614
The Rosewood Jumbo I have is much louder than the Maple Jumbo or the Koa Jumbo. The Koa is actually the most quiet (but she is sweet). It was also louder than my SJ-200 which I sold. A Rosewood Jumbo with medium (or at least custom lights) has awesome volume!

I would expect that, more often than not, one of the GSs would be loudest. I've never played a Dan Crary Taylor but it may have the potential to be louder than other Taylors.
I've played with guitarists that could make any guitar loud. They usually have a stiff pick between their fingers and strum like a Richie Havens wanna be. They tend to break strings frequently. |
