Different guitars impressed me at different times and the following is only what I recall now. But the top 3 would have pretty much been constant throughout had I played those three guitars earlier on. Naturally I have to give precedence to the guitars i have actually played since this is the most accurate experience of the guitar.

1. My somogyi mod d
2. The Kim walker sj i once owned
3. My circa om42 deluxe
4. An exceptional vintage prewar OM. Maybe like this 1932 om28 if the clip Is how it sounds like to the player https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6oUVtXGj5Pc
5. This 2010 greenfield g1 if the clip (one of the best clips I may hv ever heard on the dreamguitars website) is how it sounds like to the player

Well, as I do have, a dreadnought, a 00, and a parlor for steel string, and then two nylons--a classical and a crossover.

Well said.

I wouldn't want 5 guitars. Just think of the grocery bills!

I know I replied to this thread a few years ago, but I'm not about to look for it. I am curious to see if my 5 guitars would have changed in the interim.

For me, it would be:

Lowden F25
R. Taylor Style 2
Emerald X7 Opus
Taylor 858

and.......some exquisite electric that feels like my Gibson Sonex

You can choose the brands:

Dreadnought/Grand Auditorium 6 string
Jumbo 12 string
Classical
Some kind of acoustic travel guitar
Electric

This is my preference in that I can get pretty much any sound I'm looking for. And variety is the spice of life!

Here are five I have previously owned and would again, in a heartbeat:

Gibson Advanced Jumbo
Bourgeois Slope D (adi/hog)
Martin J-40
Yamaha LL26
Martin CEO-5

Nobody said anything about mandolins, so it would be the 1916 Gibson F4 I swapped for the Bourgeois, above.
