Nice. No doubt one of Martin's finest models.

I owned and enjoyed having a D41, but always liked the D42 better. That is a classy guitar!

thanks for sharing

I played one and loved it - it was a mint pre-owned bargain but I passed - been kicking myself ever since

I've played GEs and authentics - the D-42 beats them all IMHO for tone, playability, looks, mojo...

she is on my list

enjoy and play on!

About 10yrs ago I found a guy that had hocked his in a pawn shop and was about to lose it. He needed $2100 to get it out of hock, and didn't want the pawn shop to have it, so he sold it to me for that. Traded it later for a Collings CJ. Stupidest thing I've ever done!

A beautiful guitar you have there. I played one at a music store in Gatlinburg, TN and if I could have afforded it I would have brought it home with me, that guitar had the best tone, very balanced, it really spoke to me. Someday I would love to have one. Enjoy that awesome guitar and thanks for posting.

I've got one too and I love it to death. Bought it at the end of 2014 along with an HD-28V. Even though they are constructed similarly, they sound almost nothing alike.

My D-42 has a similar silky top like yours. Gorgeous guitars.

I have always thought that the D-42 was a wonderful sounding and looking dreadnought. Thanks for the picture -- yours is gorgeous!

Congratulations on a great choice. I have really liked the tone of every D-42 I have played. Hope it is a keeper for you.

I've liked most of the Martin D-42's that I've played, but my all-time favorite at that level of ornamentation is the Martin D-42K, with koa back and sides:

Martin D-42K

I'd go so far as to say that the D-42K's are my all-time favorite Martin dreadnoughts, regardless of tonewoods or ornamentation. They're just great-sounding guitars, and look elegant, besides.

Anyway, D-42's are magnificent guitars, whatever tonewoods they're made from.
