Takamine G series has some good offerings in this price range.

I would probably check out some Takamine's. You can get a pretty good G series on your budget.

Try the Martin 000xAE. $499 and sound great plugged in or not.

I think this is my next guitar, just hard to beat for the price. I have 2 of the non-electric non cutaway versions and really happy with the tone. I saw one of these sold at a guitar store in Danville, VA for $349 but all of his guitars have gone through a set-up. Brown sunburst also looks really nice.
