D'Addario NB are the best sounding on that jazzy piece!
But my ear is used to D'Addario PB sound, so overall I would prefer D'Addario PB.
Flatpicking and blues are good on all 3 sets, each in its own way, but on jazz I liked D'Addario NB.

Thank you for the video, playing is superb!

The PB's sound like good PB's, the NB's are way too thin and bright, the Retros sound WONDERFUL!

I just want to say thanks for coming back to AGF. Anything and everything you play sounds magnificent. I just pulled out my E Pack and I'll start up again. Inspirational!

Very nice. Thanks for posting Toby.
Blowout win for the Retros IMO (especially up on the neck!)

Thank you for the concert, and the string comparison.

The order I liked them'
1st Retros (very soulful and balanced)
2nd PB (Balanced and Clean)
3rd NB (Kinda muddy)

maybe the NB need some more hammer time to wake them up.

Keep that thumb thumping Toby!

Thanks Again

Toby, im having a little intonation problem with Pure Nickel... which is the Jon Pearse version of it...
Do you think that the less tension(same gauge) of nickel strings leads to intonation problem in some guitars ?!

Welcome back Toby!!

Is it just me or do you feel you lost some bass response and gained a little balance with the Retros vs. the PB's ?

I have Retros on my solid Sapele Om and love the evenness of tone but feel I lost a little low end thump with the Monels. What's your take?

Thanks for posting this very good demo. My vote goes for the Nickel/Bronze strings. Why ?? Very little string squeak. The Martin strings seem to squeak a lot.

Hi Otavio,

That's a great question. Let's put it to the other members.

Thanks Roy. I personally prefer the PB because of the warmth factor. There's also plenty of bass response and 'thump' with the PBs for my taste.

The NB strings seem to have a different type of coating on them, or at least they feel that way, which may contribute to less squeaking.
