The 810 is my favorite. The combo of rosewood and spruce is great for strumming! SG

The larger bodied guitars (dreadnoughts and jumbos) are better for strumming due to their volume and heavier strings. That would correspond to the x10 and x15 models.

The choice of body wood is basically up to what kind of tone you want from your guitar. Sitka spruce tops are favored for hard strumming because it is said that they are harder to "overdrive." But cedar and Engelmann spruce work fine as well.

I have an 810, plan to get a 315 soon, and love the sound of the 510 as well. All great for strumming.

Ken

Ah, i finally get a chance to brag about my 815!! This guitar rocks, espessially for strumming. It sounds so smooth across the spectrum. I can totally tell the difference between the 815 and the 810. Jumbo is the way to go in my opinion for the rythmic strumming stuff.

I have a 610c and all I know is it sounds great when strummed. I don`t use a pick so it isn`t overly bright... my finger nails are really tough. I have a Larrivee OM lite that is also fun to play but when I switch to the Taylor I describe the tone as more complex... not quite sure how to describe it but my ears know, there are so many subtleties to it. Just a fine instrument. I played my teacher`s Takamine the other day ( a high end all solid wood jumbo ) and man the action felt sooo high I think I`ve been spoiled by the Taylor. I was even thinking of a 500 series cedar top yesterday... stop me before I buy again.

Cool

Likewise my 615. I don't use a pick either but fingerpick and strum hell out of it with my thumb and backs of my fingers and finger nails. It's a loud, good-sounding mother.

I'm not a hard strummer, but when I want to dig in I grab my 410. It can respond to delicate fingering, but can also stand up to a strong attack.

I DIG my 810 for strumming - it was made in heaven for it (well, California anyway...)

What about the X55's? Wouldn't you consider the 12-strings good strummers, too?
