1950 Gibson ES-175 Questionable Repair

Hey Folks, I own a 1950 ES-175 single pickup and am surmising there was a neck repair done many years ago. I'm uploading a detailed pic as well as an overall to give you an idea, any thoughts? Thanks!

From the one picture I see, it looks similar to my octave mandolin (new) where only the fretboard extends over the body, and there is a block of wood between it and the instrument top. The maker told me that it is problematic to have it all one piece. His words. Maybe an excuse?

Not sure what your issue is. There was a neck reset in the instrument's past. Does that bother you?

Curious to know how the guitar plays. Any issues with playability that would indicate that the repair (or reset) was not successful?

The neck reset doesn't bother me except when I bought it 15 years ago I never noticed the repair. Otherwise, the guitar plays great and neck is straight. As I'm getting ready to sell it and have no quality luthier to bring it to for 200 miles, I thought I'd ask this group for their opinion. I thank you all for your comments.

For a serious player/buyer, the neck reset would be a good thing IF it plays and sounds great. One less thing to take care of. At the right price, you should have no problem in selling it.

That's great news that the guitar plays great...from my perspective, that is the main thing. I can understand how this becomes a concern when you consider selling the guitar. As a buyer, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a guitar with such a repair, as long as I could verify everything was kosher. However, I'm sure there are those who might consider aesthetics as well as playability in their equation.

Good luck selling your guitar! Wish I could afford it!

Take a look on reverb at some of the same model from the 50s. I just did and I saw one with similar looking joints around the neck. It seems to be a normal thing, but on most of them the finish is black so it's hidden.
