Default Martin OM-18v. Wow!

I am a Taylor guy by nature but just took in a very sweet 2006 OM-18v in trade. VERY impressed. I guess the big neck profile is a dealbreaker for some but not this guy. Such an awesome finger style guitar and effortless playability. I have larger hands then most I guess. Anyway- WOW! Anyone else loving the vintage OMs?

An OM-18v never crossed my path but I would love to try one. I wonder if I would appreciate that big neck now after poo-pooing the OM-28 Marquis (same neck and 2 3/8" string spacing) so long ago. Didn't have the playing experience back then, but I love full size necks now.

So many great Martins from the Vintage series... the HD-28v, the OM-28v, and the 00-18v too. Just terrific.

Enjoy your new guitar!

Very similar neck as the Eric Clapton, lots more of those around to try. CEO7s...

But yes, the word was out about the OM18V for fingerpickers 10 years or so ago and I scored a 2002 from Elderly. It started a mental revolution here! Mod V Hunter! ( I even had my neck on my custom Cargill 00 deep body based on my OM18v neck, though he made it a bit rounder while hand sanding....)

And it is an easy jump from OM18V to original Waterloo WL-14 necks.

I'm a very big OM fan. I have a McAlister OM-18 and the use of a 1934 long-scale OOO-18, what Schoenberg calls a "virtual OM. They are both fantastic guitars.

Yes, packed mine up after playing it for a while....wonderful guitar, some would say plain Jane standard Martin look.....but don’t be deceived...Ha Ha! The tone of my 20 year old 2002 and THAT neck! Yeah.

Every Martin I've ever played with a "V" in the designation has been an outstanding guitar.

That has included an 00-18V and a D-18SS with "V" Series specs.

I picked up my OM28V from a forum member last summer.
It felt perfect from the first minute, but I strangely struggled to bond with it.
I’ve continued playing it, and most often seemed to reach for the OM first.
I love the neck and long saddle bridge, the 2 5/16 spacing is perfect for me.
Looking back I don’t know when it happened, but that OM is going to be a friend of mine for a long time.

Default OM-18 A

I chanced upon a Martin OM-18 Authentic a while back a local man had for sale. I played it for ten or fifteen minutes and bought it without truly considering the barrel and heel neck. I got it home and found that the shape of the neck really aggravated my arthritis, but it sounded sooooo good, I couldn't stop playing it. Then one day I realized I loved the neck. Somehow my hands had gotten used to it and now I love it, wide string spacing and all.

So to the original question: I'm someone loving an OM even if followed by an A not a V.

The OM18 Authentic is the 3 litre 6 twin turbo model

While the OM18V is the 3 litre non turbo.

I guess that makes a standard OM18 a 2 litre.....

I very recently sold my OM18V. A 2004, bought new in 2006. I slowly fell out of love with it over the last couple years. Aging hands had a lot to do with it. I was also finding that I preferred standard string spacing versus the wider on the V model, and short scale. Basically a 000-18 if not for the new MLO necks.

Great sounding guitars though.

Things change. Ya got to roll with it. Now I'm on a quest for a new one. Good times.

I wish I could find one. Those are rare in Europe.

I love my 00-18v but sometimes wish it was bigger.
