Default James Burkett BD-28 - Adirondack/Brazilian - Closed

James Burkett is a semi-retired luthier out of Alabama (https://www.burkettguitars.com) and widely known for his excellent restoration of vintage guitars. The 2021 BD-28 is modeled after a '37 Martin D-28. Top is torrefied Adirondack Spruce and back and sides of excellent straight grained Brazilian Rosewood. Bone nut (1.75" and saddle (2 5/16") Scale is 25.4". Fretboard and bridge are ebony. Condition is VG+ -> Excellent. The neck is a C -> V shape with .90" depth at the 1st fret and 1.07" at the 9th. It is not a baseball bat but it does fill the hand. The finish is a very thin water based poly that Mr Burkett applies by hand. There is a strap button added at the heel. No pick-up is installed. Includes hard shell case.
This is the quintessential big, loud and full sounding rosewood dreadnaught with a deep bass and sparkling trebles. The one word to describe it - POWERFUL. Here is a sample of the tone provided by the previous owner. https://www.hangoutstorage.com/flatp...JkME--3XloJ3os
Fees extra.

Wow this is some of the best Brazilian I've seen on a modern guitar!

I have a Burkett J45, one of the last built as James is easing into retirement. It is a fantastic slope shoulder. He is likely the best luthier you have never heard of. He has decades of building, repairing, and restoring experience. I have never wanted a guitar more than I do this one. Sadly not in the cards at the moment.

I would be more than happy to accommodate. Let me know who wants the bass side and who wants the trebles.

Forgot to add - PMs replied to.

I think Tom should pay for shipping between our houses as compensation for us being caretakers of his beast. Then when people finally realize that James Burkett built great guitars, he will be able to sell it for what it's really worth.

I love the look of this guitar. I'm a big fan of very thin finishes (one of the reasons I own a couple of Sexauers with Bruce's hand varnished finish), and I'd be curious to know what this water based poly one feels like. It's obviously super thin as seen in the back photo showing the wood grain coming through.

Do you know how much this guitar weighs?
