Question Does anyone own a Martin 000-X1ae?

If so, what are your thoughts? Pros and cons - if any cons? Thanks in advance.

I'm definitely interested as well. That's on my short list.

I as well. One can pick them up used in the $350 range. Thinking it might be the type of OM I can take when I play out of state. If the airlines smash it I'd be mad, but not too mad.

I had one for awhile. It sounded so good in GC one day that I just took it home. It does have a good tone, I think Martin does some pretty amazing things with HPL. But I bought it for my travel guitar and found it really too big for me to want to travel with. I ended up getting a GS mini for travel and couch noodling. I also found that once I got the Martin home the excitement of it kind of wore off and I got bored with it easily. Can't really put my finger on it, I liked the tone and it was very easy to play I just didn't "bond" with it. Maybe if it had been the size I really wanted I wouldn't have sold it.

BluesyRob, why do you want one? I want one for camping, couch, and maybe my first open mic. I have a solid wood mahogany so I actually love the idea of the hpl and strata bond neck. I bet it would be super stable for camping.

they are surprisingly nice guitars!!! kinda heavy but that's to be expected from an HPL guitar. Great tone, great everything really, I don't like the fishman pick up but it'll do. This is really a great guitar for the price......really nice for an outdoor, bang around guitar. I would not hesitate to buy another as a second or third guitar!!!

I've yet to play one that sounds bad. I wonder about the durability of the HPL, but maybe I'm just crazy. If it sounds good it sounds good right?

I'm back and forth between getting this guitar, or getting a gs mini, or ponying up more $$$ for a road series 000.

I have played one or 2 at GC, and they sound really nice with solid spruce top, plus I like the aesthetics. Don't know if I will ever be able to afford one.
