Default NGD! Bourgeois OMC Custom

Today is a glorious day - as any NGD is! I opened my new Dana Bourgeois OMC Custom last night after allowing it to sit for 24-hours after arrival - BTW, one of the longest 24-hour periods in my life. I purchased this beautiful guitar after making the trip from Chattanooga, TN to Cleveland, OH and then on to Lansing, MI with my brother to visit the incredible Elderly Instrument Company (three-stories of guitar heaven). Ironically, HE was the one picking up a couple of prime guitars and I was SUPPOSED to be just along for the ride. It didn't work out that way.

This Bourgeois is a very lightly used 2002 OMC Custom that immediately caught my eye. It has a Bubinga back and sides with a European Spruce top - simply stunning. As beautiful as it looks, it is ALL about tone - and this little guitar is a killer. Due to it's age, she has opened fully. She is tremendously balanced and a true joy to play. I unboxed her at about 5:45 PM last night and set her down just before midnight. This OMC is one of those kind of guitars that feels like it "just belongs" with you.

Here are a couple of pictures:

Wow! Congratulations. Looks to be in fine shape for 13 yrs old.

Maybe one day I'll actually see a Bourgeois in real life. I'm very curious about their tone and neck shapes vs Collings.

Default NGD! Bourgeois OMC Custom

Since it's summer and it's warm throughout the country you probably could have saved yourself the 24 hours of agony. But either way the case is now open and the guitar is being enjoyed. Congratulations. NGD should be a national holiday were it's customary for family to buy their guitar-playing family member a new guitar or at least guitar accessories.

BTW, gorgeous back. I always loved tortoise shell binding. There's a subtle elegance to it.

I just bought one this week also. Mine is sitka over EIR and has no cutaway. Also came with a Dtar undersaddle pickup which sounds really good and I am considering keeping the Dtar in spite of my not liking the undersaddle nature of it. Sounds amazingly great both plugged in and not. I will likely pull the pickup and put a K and K in so the saddle is against the wood 100%. Dana does make a very nice guitar and I for one am pleased with mine. Enjoy yours to the fullest.
