Default DADGAD & other Alternate Tunings

Hey - I'm spending a lot of time with my new guitar tuned to DADGAD. I just love the sound and feel that it really can make a guitar ring...the only issue I have is that a lot of fingerstyle pieces seem to be rather difficult for a beginner - intermediate fingerstyle player like myself!

Could any one recommend any pieces that would be good fun to learn at my level whilst exploring DADGAD or similar tunings?

Thanks,

VFA.

Try Doug Youngs Shenendoah. He offers a free tab on his website. Also check out Simon Fox Dadgad website 28 free transcriptions of various levels of guitar and a good Dadgad tutorial page.

This one is pretty easy, in a variation of DADGAD: DADEAD
The song is "Like the Wheel" by the Tallest Man on Earth. Broken down very simply with tab and views of both hands.

I had just come from the 'name songwriters' thread, so Lou Reed was in my head, having mentioned him. Check out this tuning.....

Hi VFA,

Al Pettaway has a bunch of DADGAD songs that are accessible. Dance for Rebecca is one I can think of off the top of my head.

Laurence Juber is a master of DADGAD and one of my favorite arrangers. He put out a folio a few years back called, "Popular Songs". Most of them are in DADGAD and a few are not too difficult (My Girl, My Love, and a few others).

There is an album of him playing all of these songs too.

I had a lot of fun with this and people like hearing these tunes.

Kashmir by the Zep. Great droning DADGAD tune.

I second this. LJ is very good and a great arranger. Heck, he even got a Grammy for it. :-)
