Always keep the box so you can send the old strings to Darryl Purpose's Second Strings Project.

As to whether you have on coated Martins or coated D'Addarios, that's easy. The D'Addarios have colored ball ends and the Martins don't.

EDIT: Yeah, I like Martin PBs better than Martin 80/20s too.

I didn't know this existed. I'll start doing that from now on!

I'm yet to find a set of strings that has made me want to write down the name, date etc. For the moment I'm enjoying going through various combinations with no real order or structure to it.

I know I've had Martin SP mediums on my dread a few times, but that I also liked Curt Mangan's and DR Rares (these latter strings really seemed to come to life after a week or so of playing, glad I kept them on!).

Still looking for that "Holy Grail" set of strings I suppose. And in no rush to find it

I keep track of what strings are on what guitar, date put on, comments about the strings, etc. in an excel worksheet. I headed up the columns by guitar and the A column says what strings were used and the date put on goes in the column under the guitars name. I use the last column as a description.

Me too.
I guess that I didn't have an original idea here.
Well, we could form a club.

I just watch my email receipts from juststrings.com to keep track. But once I find something consistent, which for me these days is DR Sunbeam Silvers on one guitar and D'Addrio EXP16s on the other.

Sounds like you are already onto a good thing with the Martin PBs. I dig me some Martin strings, too. Their cheapest ones are fantastic in many applications! Might have to try a few others.

See? SEE? You gave me a bad case of SAS!
