I am in love with the J45 Studio
For years I’ve been saving to get a Martin. It has been a goal of mine for some time. But now I feel like maybe I’m a Gibson man. I just want that solid low end. I’m also thinking maybe get a J45 Standard.
My main acoustic now is a Yamaha FG-450-SA and I love it. It sparkles. But I’d like to buy a Gibson because it’ll become a family heirloom. I’d love to pass it down to my son.

If I wanted that "solid low end" I'd go with a Martin dread. I have an HD-28 and a J-45. When it comes to low end, they are not ever close...especially when you throw a set of mediums on the HD-28.
But hey, if you're in love...you're in love. Lead with your heart.

Gibsons do have a certain “thump” to them. Some love it, some do not, but for pure bottom end a D-28 is hard to beat. There are Gibsons with good bottom end. The Advanced Jumbo is especially good, but I have never heard a J-45 that would compete with a D-28 for bottom end. They do have a lot of other great qualities, though.

If you like the bottom end of a J-45 studio then the standard will melt your heart. The difference between mahogany and walnut will be very apparent when you compare the two. I think the studio is a bit shallower too right?
I've come to really like walnut. It tends to have much more clarity, at least in the guitar I've tried.
