Favorite Acoustic Players?
Hi, I just ordered my first Acoustic in about 15 years or more. Used to listen to acoustic fingerstyle players a lot but don't remember many names and I'm sure there are some current players that I've never heard of. I like just about any music. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Who should I not miss out on? Thanks!

Acoustic finger style playing is represented though a huge variety of genres from old blues and ragtime through new age and modern jazz....plenty of active players that delve into myriad styles....one you may not know of?...

...I love Jesse Cook...and I hate to be that guy...but he uses a flatpick and is not really a finger stylist....pretty much a hybrid style and lightin flippin fast....still...if you get a chance to see Jesse and his band do not pass it up....you will be thoroughly entertained by an amazing talented group... I love a lot of the folks already mentioned and a bunch more.
I'll throw in a guy I just learned about on the AGF this week, Britishman John James (for ragtime) and Toby Walker (for blues). But Mississippi John Hurt is still my favorite fingerpicker. Last edited by reeve21; 03-30-2021 at 08:23 AM. |

For classical I like Chaconne Klaverenga. This young lady is from Lafayette Indiana and is quite the classical player. I think she plays guitar the way a guitar wants to be played.
Look her up on YouTube, you won't be disappointed. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...tail&FORM=VIRE
