Default Maple or Mahogany? Can you hear the difference?

Can you hear the difference between maple and mahogany? Both guitars sound fantastic, Larrivee 000-40 Maple & Moon Spruce and 000-40M Mahogany & Sitka.

The custom 000-40 Maple has a shorter 24.75" scale, while the 000-40M has the more traditional 25.5" scale.

Nice comparison!….yes I hear the difference and the difference is exactly what I would expect to hear based on my own experience….the maple sounds a bit brighter with a more defined note to note separation and an overall more lively sound. The mahogany sounds warmer with a more blended tone and mid range push…..I like them both….

Personally I tend to use my maple bodied guitar for open finger style playing and choppy rhythm playing…..my Mahogany guitars are better all rounders for me and work for just about anything….and Rosewood?……for me it’s like chocolate cake…fat and sumptuous ….

I wish I had a 000-40R to add the Rosewood to the mix... hmmmmm.
