Default Martin 000X1 good deal or not?

I have a chance to pick-up a Martin 000X1 (no electronics)
for $200. The seller is the second owner, and he's had it
for 10 years. He says it is in very good condition.
Is this a good deal?
Is this a good guitar?
Thanks y'all.

I like mine a LOT. That's a great price depending on it's condition. Play it.

Can't answer for you, but I would consider it a good deal if it played well - especially if it comes w/a case.

Nothings a good deal if it doesn't sound good. The newer ones are pretty good sounding little guitars and because of it's name you can resale quickly if needed with no loss. Go check it out - if you don't like it - don't buy it.

Play it... if you like the feel and the sound it would be a mandatory buy in my book. They are a nice guitar depending on the particular one you have in your hands.

This, too, is not a GSmini with a mahogany top. Focus.

Still a good deal if it plays well and no structural issues.

I've always been surprised at how good the DX1 sounds (basically the dreadnought version of the subject guitar). But what is even more impressive is the durability of the HPL construction. They are impervious to almost anything. Both my brother and I had the DX1's throughout college (though his took a little more abuse ). I went on to sell mine in excellent condition. His looks like it survived a nuclear blast but still plays and sounds fantastic.

I've always been intrigued by the 000 version and am a little disappointed that they only come in with electronics now. I think $200 for the guitar in great physical and playing condition is a great deal. Case? Not 100% necessary as a nice padded gig bag would be enough in my book. Obviously your mileage may vary.

I might be a bit concerned about the "no case." Seems to me 10 years ago at least these came with a case. Maybe I'm too suspicious but with no case and a $200 price tag I'd be leery and check the serial number with Martin just in case it "changed hands involuntarily. "

Buy it and flip it for $300. Then sell one of your other guitars and buy the coveted GS Mini. Please don't post again unless you are starting a NGD thread.

Yes, if it's legit. My 000X1 is about 15 years old and I could sell it for more than $200, so if it's in good condition then snatch that sucker up. It's a great lower end Martin, doesn't pack the punch its solid back/sided brethren do, but still got that tone.

I'd say the same thing. If he really wants that mahogany GS mini, a second, third, or fourth inexpensive guitar might not change that. And it doesn't take too many 200 dollar guitars to equal the price of the one he really wants. I mean, it's got a solid top and maybe he'd like it . . . but it seems like a distraction.

This. Exactly. Once I reached eight low priced guitars laying around the house,
then I realized why I can't afford (yet, still saving) my Taylor 312 that I dream about.

But as mentioned before, if it's on good condition and a legitimate sale (not stolen or something crazy) then he could easy flip it for more than he paid.
