Hmmm, now I have a problem. If it sounds really, really good, how will I know if it was caused by the torrefaction, the new bracing, the tone-riting, the fish glue . . . or perhaps the brown stain?
I'd say it'd be the torrefication more than anything else.

If an adirondack spruce or Brazilian tree falls in a forest and there is no-one to hear it fall, does that mean the it will make silent guitars?

Well this IS a silly thread isn't it?

The real answer, of course, is .............. 42.

If Torrefication takes the wood to it's mature point, additional enhancement with Tone-Rite, should take the Guitar to the end of it's useful life....

Controversial topic and the OP hasn't posted in the thread since yesterday, he must be a troll.

Tonerite, on a torriffied top, will eventually start to smoke, than burn, give off an electrical fire smell an eventually stop vibrating.
Seriously though, if you need to break in a torriffied top,,
it would suggest "torriffied " is more
Smoke and mirrors

Although none of us knows the answer, it's actually kind of an interesting question. And I guess its corollary is, "what happens to a torrefied top as it ages naturally?" I wouldn't expect anything horrible in either case. I suspect the wood approaches some stable state where further changes are small. But who knows? Someone is bound to try it (Tone-Riting a torrefied guitar) at some point, I suppose.

though wouldn't the guitar be 'Played out', cedar in less time than spruce and of course a mahogany topped guitar would just sound eh, brown

I think the wood flies off and turns into a tree somewhere. Might not be right about that, however.

Exclamation Serious matter

Alright move along nothing to see here, he had a serious question, and we turned it into joke I kind-a feel good about that - it has happened to me a few times.

But on a serious note. if it does nothing to the top it has to do something to the body. so i think it will work out fine.

Goodluck with it and keep us posted.
