Default Peter Rowan guitars

Besides a Berger D35 and Martins, what else does Peter Rowan play? Anyone know? I saw him at Floyd Fest with Jerry Douglas this year and was curious

This is a question better asked in the main forum IMO. I have no idea! I looked at this because I thought maybe Peter had started making guitars.

It's from December of 1999, but there is lots of cool information here:

He owns several guitars including his own signature model and at least one prewar Style 45 Martin. Recently, I've seen him most often with the Sawtelle D-18 or a D-18 Authentic.

I have seen Peter in the Uk, playing a maple backed dread by Jimmie Moon which, Peter told us, was modelled on the Levin/Goya Goliath of the '60s. (Much like the one I'm selling - see classifieds).

Before that he used a Ralph Bown 000 12 fret that (I heard) he left with a friend in the UK to use in Europe.

Last time I saw himwith his bluegrass band he was playing an elderly looking D18.

The last time I saw him--either two or three years ago, with Tony Rice in Boston--he was playing a D-18 A.

He's definitely a Preston Thompson Guitars player and owner, as was sawtelle etc.

I'm sure Peter has a nice stable of guitars at his disposal. One that I've seen him use on stage several times is a custom sitka/eir dread made by a luthier in Central Florida. Here's a link: http://www.baileyacousticshop.com/customguitars.html

Default Thanks to all for the responses

I really appreciate that information passed along by you all. SHould this have been posted in the General Discussion forum? Perhaps. Is it a crime that it wasn't ? Hell no. The man plays custom guitars. I was curious. Anyway I called him and talked to him and his "go-to" dread is a Paul Berger D-35. vast majority of the time. Thanks for all the fine responses!! Bryan
