Default That Page fellow in Led Zeppelin is pretty good

Just did "Good Times, Bad Times" in my guitar class.
How the hell did Jimmy Page come up with this stuff, let alone
play it at warp speed? Absolutely unbelievable!

Was?...........Still cooking! But he also had an awesome "supporting" cast! Matter of fact, John Paul Jones does some Zep when he travels with Dave Rawlings....now that's a show!

I've been a big Page fan most of my life. When I listened to Jones' work with Them Crooked Vultures it became clear to me just how important he was to Zeppelin's sound, it was a real eye opener. They sounded nothing like Zeppelin, but at the same time they sounded completely like Zeppelin. All four were amazing together.

I talked to Page and Plant one night. Just a few minutes with Page, but probably 15-20 talking to Plant while he was waiting on Jimmy. All around very nice, down to Earth guy.....

The next time you are listening to "Stairway to Heaven" focus on the drums. Totally transcendent.

+1 on all four members being legends and musical giants.

He stole a lot of licks from Hubert Sumlin... among others.

I love the stuff he stole from Bert Jansch, it turned me on to Bert once I actually found out about it.

Huge Zep fan here. Jimmy Page has that rare combination - raw inspirational feel with amazing technical skills. Nothing else like it.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Page was also the Producer of the LZ albums (unheard-of for a "mere" guitarist in the day...he was his own George Martin!), not to mention the principle songwriter and founder of the band (which was conceived as a new incarnation of the Yardbirds)...no Pagey, no Zeppelin, period.

I think that rates better than 25% contribution on Page's part. Of course, all these guys were and are vastly talented and would have done something in their own right, respectively...but it would not have been Led Zeppelin.

As much as I liked his playing, I think I admired him even more for his abilities as an arranger and producer.
