Default "Satan is Real" on Martin

Nazareth, PA (NAMM, Booth 902)– July 7, 2014 - C. F. Martin & Co. (www.martinguitar.com) will pay tribute to beloved gospel and country legends The Louvin Brothers when they unveil the new D-28 Louvin Brothers Custom Signature Edition at Summer NAMM 2014 in Nashville, July 17-19. It is the first guitar made by Martin that features a special photographic imprint on the solid Sitka spruce top, with a graphic inspired by the Louvin Brothers’ iconic album cover, “Satan is Real.”

Love the Louvins and that release is a classic. Have the cover on a t-shirt, not sure I would want it on a guitar, especially at that asking price. I guess there is a market for everything
NAMM in Nashville sounds like a great time.

Default Photo Printed Top

And my first guitar had a picture of Mickey Mouse on it, and a little crank handle on the side.......

Yeah, sorry, I don't see that being a big mover for them............

Love the Louvins, but that album cover was among the tackiest of all country music album covers.

Not that I'd want a graphic of ANY album cover on the front of my expensive new Martin.

I'm sure they will find an audience for it though. There's a butt for every chair.

I think this thread is about a guitar, not a religious view. I would be careful here or you guys may get this thread locked.

I dislike images, printing, painting, signatures or such on guitars. I can't imagine anyone except their family or most devoted fans would want this.

More importantly, couldn't they have picked a better image for their first-ever special photographic imprint? Like maybe Chet Atkins, or Lloyd Loar or Les Paul or Elvis or anyone or anything else?

I imagine this process is set up so they print to order and don't have these on a shelf waiting to go.

I bet if we revisit this in a few months they will have sold an embarrassingly small number of these.

Seems like a major marketing blunder to me.

And putting aside the arcane and narrow "iconic" status of this image- it is really (really) ugly.

I like to keep album covers and guitars separate.

Bad idea IMHO ... Martin already tried those awful "175th Anniversary" versions of the "X" models with all the goofy CF Martin iconography all over the top. And those hung on the walls of pretty much every shop that was forced by Martin to take one in inventory ... for months/years.

Perfect example of the difference between "can do something" and "should do something"
