Talking Richie Sambora

Anyone happen to catch the Bon Jovi concert special on VH1 last night? Richie Sambora played his Taylor double neck Koa acoustic on "Wanted Dead or Alive". What an awesome guitar. Anybody know or have a guess as to what this thing cost? Just curious.

Saw the concert, what a great guitar! I would imagine it had to be in the 10-15K range. I didn't notice what kind of acoustic Bon Jovi was playing...

Thumbs up

swoodnj,

Thought that Jon was playing a Takamine. Don't know what model. Still think that its cool that they close the show with an acoustic number. I feel a case of TAS coming on, need a Sambora signature model!

I've heard, though I can't confirm because I can't remember the source, that its value is in the 30k range and that only two were built with Taylor having keeping one. Beautiful but i'm having enough of a struggle getting good on six strings let alone eighteen

Unhappy

I've played the Sambora and Loggins sig models...Of course they belonged to friends with much bigger wallets than me! Actually, after I typed 15K I thought about it and said "Nah, must be more than that"...

$30,000!!! That'll cure my TAS. Seems like Richie has the touch. I recall that he had given Clapton a Taylor 12 string that was put up for auctioned a while back. I think the high bid was $30,000.

They made three of them ... Sambora has two and he gave Taylor one of them back. The one Taylor has was in the lobby (I think it's in JR's virtual tour), but now it's on loan to someplace ... I think it's the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame or something like that.

Cool

I hear its 30K to build. It was built the old (70s) method. Taylor freely admits its not as good a guitar as what you can buy off the shelf. But the again you cant buy a double neck Taylor. No NT necks and not real good braceing. Taylors words not mine..JW

If the guitar Sambora gave Taylor is on loan than it pretty recent. When I went on the factory tour in late March it was there, and boy is it beautiful! It would have been really nice to play, but they wouldn't let any of us touch it. Oh well. I'll just have to get famous and have one of my own built.

The loan is somewhat recent ... the guitar was there when I went in mid-April. When I went back at the end of April, it was gone. I asked about it and they said it was on loan.
