Japanese Acoustic junkies - show your guitars...
I've been hearing a lot of '70s Japanese knockoffs that are very good guitars. I'm just curious if anyone else has a Made in Japan guitar that they like.

It's a classical but I love it so much I'm going to post in this thread anyway. One of Masaki Sakurai's finer pieces of craftsmanship from 1976.

Yamaha's Left to right; N500 (Japan Only release), FG350w from Tiawan (love that one too) It is thier "AJ" Great great player, A Handmade LA18 Solid African Mahogany (Looks like the wood Collings uses), Mahogany neck, Ebony Fretboard, it has a special setup for tremendous sustane. The King; FG300, nothing sounds like her. The notes drip with honey. I have a couple others. |

Those are not cheap Yamaha's. I have an FG335 from probably around 1980 and it doesn't come close to any of those 4 in terms of eye candy.

early `60s Yamaha No. 45...
on the left is my $1.oo Masao Koga all laminate that sounds better than you think...on the right is my .21 cent all solid wood made by someone whose signature can not be read by anybody I`ve shown it to so far...amazing pair for a grand total of $1.21 CDN. People think everything is outrageously expensive in Japan but for some unknown reason many old MIJ nylon strings are still dirt cheap, I have 29 Yamaha Dynamics, 14 of their first run classical types and 7 Sadao Yairis...among other assorted makers...but I`ll stop now `cause there are just too many to post em all. |
