Default Why is this guitar so expensive?

I ran across this Taylor on eBay 414CE LTD

My local Taylor dealer has one for a lot less. Maybe this guy is marketing it for other Europeans or folks that can't get one locally? It's a nice guitar, but not for what he's asking.

This is VERY suspicious. The picture looks lifted from a friend of mine's auctions, and the text is identical to his, word for word!

Several reasons, including price that I wouldn't touch it.

Stupid question - how can the seller assert that it has a clear, ringing sound and still claim it's never been played? If you strum the open strings, it would be....

...ah, it's a bad site anyway. Who cares? Just don't fall for it.

Back away from that E-bay 414CE LTD. It isn't worth it. Move along.

Did any of you guys notice that it is in the UK??

Due to shipping and availability costs, they pay in pounds about what we pay in dollars (the number of pounds, I mean). Also, the pound costs about $1.60 right now, maybe a little more. That adds up.

Bottom line is, though, that is still that price is too high, even in pounds, for a 414ce

The auction has all the hallmarks of a scam - a seller with no feedback and this is his only auction - the seller's home country and country where this guitar is supposed to be don't match - the description is written in excellent English but the English in the other parts of the auction is poor - the seller makes a strong point of not shipping until he has your money.

If anyone actually buys this, they should insist on cash on delivery only. Sending money to a seller like this one will result in you losing your money 99 times out of 100.
