Default One Deep River Mark Knopfler album coming out in April

This is Mark Knopfler in his old age still playing a Strat -- with a capo on the 4th fret no less -- on "Ahead of the Game," making everything look so easy. What a great tone he's getting.

I tried to buy his new "One Deep River" album but it has to be pre-ordered to ship on April 12, 2024.

Nice to see a whole room full of old guys making great music. Just right for the AGF, I guess.

I was also hoping for a solo. That said, I like the mix.

Huge MK fan, but as with other artists such as Van Morrison they seem to eventually get stuck on musical train tracks they can't seem to get off.

When I saw him live 20+ years ago I wanted to quit playing because he was so over the top good I thought what's the point...

Check this out Glenn, Mark's old Dire Straits partner John Illsey playing with his bunch of old men (and some young-uns too). More Dire Straits than what MK is doing lately.

And he plays a pretty good Strat too...

Interesting stuff from John Illsley. Apparently, he is 74 years old but physically seems to be in better shape than Mark Knopfler, also at 74. Mark Knopfler was in a bad motorcycle accident some years back and I am guessing that he is suffering from some of those injuries now that he is older. I watched him in the interview at Christie's and he does not look like he's in good shape. He's having trouble moving, his hands are shaking from tremors; I feel bad for him.

I like the overall sound of John Illsley's band but I am having trouble getting used to John Illsley's singing voice. Mark Knopfler's voice isn't great, either, but somehow it works. The breathiness of John Illsley's voice is very unappealing to me, however.

Yeah, I guess his voice is either like it or you don't (like mine). Thought you would enjoy how the band is playing together on the videos. Robbie McIntosh does great work.

As for Mark Knopfler, I'm the biggest fan, and I saw him play live at Red Butte Garden in Utah a few years back in the summer. The temperature dropped ridiculously low, yet he continued the show! What a trooper. Here's an article about that day...

Long time fan here. Thanks for the heads up!
Saw him a while back in Pittsburgh. Great show of new stuff, but he did strap on his red strat, for a Dire set!
IMO, he is constantly under-rated as a guitarist and writer.

I don't think too many underrate MK in any context.

Certainly not here, where people are "in the know"! But in the general public, if you mention writers and guitar gods, his name does come up, but not as often as I think it should! Maybe its my age showing, but his mellow, nuanced tones REALLY impress me much more than rapid shredding the 'gods' are known for...
