Default Does anyone like this forum function???

This is about the forth time I have lost everything I've posted. If you post a topic or reply to a post and take too long it requests a password even if your already logged in. If you enter the wrong info or hit back, it deletes everything you just typed in. Several times I have taken many minutes typing out a well thought out post or reply only to lose the entire thing. I can't even access and post from my other 2 computers because it won't recognize multiple email addresses I guess. It is completely frustrating. I even send my comments to the moderator or whoever "contact us" is and they never responded. I guess enough people aren't having these issues that they care to correct any of it. This is not fort knox or your online banking, it's only a guitar forum.

The forum stores a cookie on your computer to track your login. i'd suggest checking that you're not running something that's removing those (or manually clearing your own cookies). Also check your computer's time and timezone setting. You can also check your forum time setting in the user CP under the edit options. Setting those properly should guarantee that the cookie isn't expiring too quickly.

Those things have on occasions happened, getting timed out, but its not a big deal because as soon as you hit send message it ask's you to re-enter your password and the post is logged.

I dont see the big deal. Maybe if the AGF collected money as a posting fee it would be ok to question the system, but they dont. I think its fine considering all the free benefits of the AGF.

Never happens to me - because my cookies don't time out.

Well Wade, some folks, and I'm not talking about you TaylorDal, can't seem to post less than 3000 words on any subject. I can see where it might be a problem for them... especially if they type slowly.

The above was not intended to offend, but if it did, blame someone else, I'm not accepting blame currently.

I've never had that problem and I've started a post, been interrupted for thirty minutes or more and then continued without incident.

I've been logged in for a week with no prompts "yet". Some virus software and/or spyware cleaners will destroy your cookies. Also check to see if you have software running that clears your temporary files regularly.

yup...

every time I type more than a few sentences it prompts me for my password.....

I enter the password and do nothing else and it works just fine...

if I hit 'enter' or anything else the post is lost...

took me a while to remember exactly what to do...

very frustrating indeed...

next week I'm working on zippers, snaps, ties, and other fasteners...

Default Lost posts

That only happens to me on my work computer, so it must be a security issue.

It's never happened to me...on any computer I've used.

However, when I was typing "lolly pop grade purple" once the forum tried to delete my account. Not sure why.

Sounds like a browser issue, or maybe some application is running in the background that cleans-out the cookies. I have started a post, left for the weekend, and returned to finish the post on a Monday morning...no having to login.
