Default Curious Breedlove question

Ok,so I bought a first year model Breedlove USA series concert which I love. It has a 3.75” soundhole and the larger concerto model does too. Now the second year version of my concert has a 4” hole yet the larger concerto still has 3.75”. Frankly I wouldn’t change a thing on mine, just curious. When I asked Breedlove in an email they just said is was due to the always evolving “sound optimization” process. Any thoughts? I would understand it more if the changes were reversed on the models. I know I’m going to get replies saying “just play the thing”

My guess is that the smaller body benefits from a larger sound hole more than the larger body does.

I concur.

I think it's the same reasoning behind Taylor's GS Mini models.. the larger sound hole helps create and project a larger, fuller sound than similar body styles of the same size.

Bliss is owning a Breedlove about which one has no idea as to the soundhole size.

I think that there was a Music Villa video recently that interviewed someone from Breedlove and they explained their process of optimizing the tone by narrowing down to 3 body shapes/sizes and then tweaking other things to get what they are looking for from each. I'm not sure if it will shed more light or not, but maybe.

Best,
Jayne
