I have one of those. It was a gift when I was a teenager back in the 80's. It was my only guitar until just a few years ago. Sigmas were made in Japan until the early 80's and then production moved to South Korea.
It is laminated mahogany (D=Dreadnaught; M=Mahogany) with a laminate top also. The "3" means which level of trim (I think 7 may have been top of the line). Mine has a fat neck and what appears to be rosewood fretboard and bridge. Like I said, it was my only guitar for about 30 years and it used to go with me everywhere I went. Beach, camping, etc. and as far as I new it was a great guitar. Then a couple of years ago I got a Taylor and then added a Martin to the family, so the poor Sigma sits alone in a corner collecting dust. The playability and tone just don't compare to my other guitars.
