It has an A-frame. Standard production 16s currently have Standard X bracing.

For the last few years Elderly has been buying Martin custom guitars out of Martin's storage inventory. They are guitars that Martin made as an experiment and never sold. They were put in storage. I know because I bought one from Elderly. It was a bit over priced but it was a one of a kind.

Maybe this is one of those guitars.

Reminds me of the closet doors in some 1960's NYC apartment buildings - the kind we usually painted to cover up the cheap-looking wood - and FBOW I'm sure there's somebody out there who'll buy it...

I'm not overly concerned about decoration or colors on an acoustic guitar. If asked to choose, I like'em understated. So, to the degree that I'd care about the guitar's looks I kind of like it.

Is everyone who is knocking it sure they know how it'll sound? I'm not immune to "bench racing" guitars based on specs and thinking I know how it'll sound, but I also know that has its range of error.

Yes, it's also priced out of my price range, making the above points moot. But I'm outraged! that it has a 1 11/16 nut! Too narrow for me. Martin, come to your senses.

I think the big thing is...a current 000-15 could likely be a Mahogany top and Sipo back and sides...

So this is over 2k of "bling?"

What makes you say that? Every guitar on the Martin website says X-Brace. A-frame is a form of X-bracing. As far as I know, 16 series have simple dovetails and simple dovetails have A-frame bracing.

If it's correct that this is an older Martin experiment it could have anything.

Standard X doesn't have an A-frame in the upper bout. 1 style bracing refers to X-braced guitars that include an A-frame for stabilization. With the switch to the simple dovetail Martin moved away from A-frame and started using Standard X in more guitars. Since the subject guitar is spec'd with 1 style bracing, then it follows it would be an X-braced guitar with an A-frame, as opposed to Standard X-braced which does not.

I like the non stained wood. It will darken over time. Someone will play it and take it home.

I find this pretty interesting. It would certainly explain this one. Thanks for the info.

I actually love this guitar as well. I love the decal, the look… I kind of think the price should be more like $2500? But hey, it’s a weird time, and it’s a custom shop with more labor. I paid $23 for a pizza pie last week.

Don't get that pizza delivered. With the new gas prices, it will cost you $33!

I too like the guitar!
