Default Guitar/Music Room...?

So my son joined the family business as it were (he joined the Coast Guard even after growing up with his dad in the Coast Guard) and his room has been largely empty for 3 yrs now. After talking to the wife and trying to pick her brain.. She seems to have NO plans for the space.

Immediately I went to guitar room! My thought was to free up space in the office from all the guitars, cases, amps, PA, pedals, and music books.

While she did not say yes, she did not say NO!!! (So you're tell'n me there's a chance!)

Anyone else where have a dedicated music or guitar room? And if so, what advice/tips would you share?

Does not work for me. I just can't stay in one room for any length of time, particularly a room that's out of the general flow of activity in the house. I prefer to have my guitars scattered throughout the general living areas (and my wife is very understanding).

The living room. My wife likes looking at them.

Same story: small house: what the Brits call a two-up/two-down.

But luckily, I have two flattops. One stays downstairs in the living room, the other upstairs in the office. I go where my tolerant wife isn't.

Handy tip: For traveling from room to room with ease, try mandolin!

We have a bar in the basement that has become a music room I guess, so to so to speak. It is where my guitars are and I'm the only one who spends any amount of time down there, other than to mix a drink. But it is still the bar. I feel though like it has a roadhouse atmosphere.

I do play up in the TV room or out on the patio occasionally, and I get out a lot with my guitar, but they eventually go back to the bar when I'm done. We just don't like living amongst guitars in every room. Besides, I don't have enough of them to scatter about.

My fifth wheel RV has a guitar couch. I just stack them around it.

I'm also presently occupying the home office - and when we relocate my wife has long since agreed that a dedicated music room (or turning the basement - if we have one - into a "Live From Daryl's House" music space) is a priority...

I had 12x14 room built in my basement complete with extra outlets, a dedicated circuit in my electrical box and sound insulation to keep Mama happy. I also put a TV in with a sound system so I can use my internet connection to access You Tube music and lesson videos as well as backing tracks. It serves as my a rehearsal room for the acoustic duet I’m in as well. The whole thing cost about $2500…nothin fancy.
One of the smartest things I’ve done.

I have a semifinished portion of the basement. It is a walk out, so I have windows. It also is set up as an office for my occasional 24h telemedicine neurology stroke call shifts.

I prefer to be in the main living area. I feel a little like I abandon my family when I go down there. However, I mostly play when others are asleep and sound carries to easily in this house. Also, I am a late beginner and my family’s tolerance for my repetitive skills practice is pretty low.

So, all in all, having my own space is super valuable.

I have a dedicated music room in the spot in our 3 car garage that was originally for my boats. I closed the room in 20 years ago into a 18 x 15 music room. Its well insulated and has its own AC/heat/humidify control. I can play loud out there and no one cares. It also gives me a place to work on guitars as I have a work bench out there for any maintenance work that needs to be done.
