Default What's a loud small body acoustic?

Anyone ever played one that was surprisingly loud compared to a dred?

My Alvarez AP70 puts out a lot sound. It's not the same sound as a dread, but sounds good.

Ok. I'll be the first to say it : GS Mini.

You didn't mention your budget,,,, so I thought I'd start with a low-ball to kick off.

One of the loudest small bodies I've played was a Huss and Dalton T0014 at Rudy's in SoHo last year. That little guy just roared. It was shocking actually for a 00.

But it is not a dread.

I would also suggest you play some Collings OMs. They are very loud too.

Every orchestra-sized Eastman I have played, including two that I have owned, has been very loud compared to other similar sized guitars I have tried.

Give a Froggy Bottom Parlor a day in court and see what you think. It is uncanny the amount of sound that comes from those little amphibians!

Loud, but not a lot of sustain.

My Eastman E20P has good bark to it. Sounds nothing like a dread, though.

+1 for Froggy Bottom (Parlor and C Models) and H&D (T Series). Unbelievable sound from these smaller guitars

My Lowden S32 is a lot louder than my Talylor 618e and about half the size.

I recently parted with my personal Jonathan Conant size 0 I couldn't believe the volume it had. The new owner emailed me that he thought it could hold its own in a bluegrass situation and I agree. Surprising what a well built smaller guitar can project.

I once A:B'd a Taran Meilein with a Froggy H12--not a fair test, since the Froggy is a bigger body. The Taran was comparable in tone, sustain and volume. Perhaps a tad softer on the bass and cooler (a maple instrument), but very impressive for a small body. Both have flawless craftsmanship. Both by remarkable gentleman. A notable feature on the Taran is the inside of the body has a satin finish.
