medical science is making great progress and we could have a cure in 5 or 10 years.. playing guitar can only be good for you right now (and always). use your mind and fight! keep your guitar "family" updated and we're all in your corner.

I'm sure everyone's thoughts will be with you, Bayliner. Bluewyatt is right about medical advances. I have a friend who was diagnosed several years ago, and with the medication she's on you'd never know. Hang in there and keep a positive attitude. And do keep us updated.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know nothing about the disease, but I'm sure that a positive attitude will be a great asset to you in fighting it.

BC, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Stay strong......and don't get too depressed. A lot of folks lead a normal life for a LONG time with MS. With today's advances in medicine....there is hope.

Hang in there man......we're all thinking about you.

That's terrible news Bayliner. I sure hope and pray you'll be able to take part in the cure for this ailment. Meanwhile as the others recommend, keep a-pickin'!

And God Bless, friend.

My best friend was diagnosed about 3 years ago, really no real problems from it (a little foot numbness), I tell him to go on the Montel Williams treament program.

Take care of yourself, try not to get depressed, do something that makes you happy, I recomend play more guitar

Cool

BC,

How difficult it must be to get a diagnosis like that- and right before Christmas too.

As others have said, don't despair. My secretary has had it for several years- there is a lot they can do now with meds- she functions amazingly well, despite having both MS and Lupas.

Music is great medicine. Keep playing, and if you are so inclined, keep praying. And if it is OK, I will pray for you as well.

All the best,
Jack

It must be tough to get such news. Sorry. I hope your form of it realizes minimal impact on your life. MS has touched my family. My aunt (on my Mom's side) had it bad, and she lost her battle with it back in 1981 after about 10 years of slow decline. It was quite sad.

I don't say this to bum you out. In fact, although I'm generally unaware of advances in MS treatment over the years, I believe we're living at a time when such illnesses can become a thing of the past and I recently became aware of one such sign of it. The husband of a work client of mine living in Prince Edward Island (Canada) has advancing MS and they just returned from a month in China where he underwent stem cell treatments (I believe the medical team are U.S. doctors). Unfortunately, it seems one has to venture that far for such treatment and at significant expense. The classic car club he's a member of rallied to raise the $40K necessary. They went there with no expectations. While there, they posted a blog. Hopefully, you never need this or if your condition worsens, it's far down the road and by then there'll be a cure. But in case you're interested, here's the link to Kevin's blog, including links to the facility that offers such treatment. http://stemcellschina.com/blog/kevinjo/

In speaking with my client as recent as a few days ago, Kevin is showing many signs of improvement. I think they may be going back for more treatments in about six months.

I hope you keep playing guitar for many years to come! Good luck to you!

BC.......Tough news to absorb, man. Between maintaining your spirituality and having faith in scientific advances, you will be in the best situation possible. Keep on keepin' on, brotha. Peace to you.......Kabookie

That is horrible news.

My sister-in-law who lives with us has had it for almost 20 years, is bed-ridden and has 24/7 care. Another sister-in-law also has it, but got it only recently and the treatments seem to be stemming the tide.

You need to attack it head-on and do whatever you have to do in order to get the best that medicine has to offer, and realize that not everybody gets the worst form.

Stay positive, stay in shape, and don't suffer in silence. There are many forums you can join that will help you be in touch with people who understand, first-hand, what it is you're going through.

We'll send positive thoughts your way..................

BaylinerCapri -

Sorry to hear the news.

My wife was diagnosed in 2000 with MS so I see it every day.

Hopefully your Doctor is Neurologist or he will refer you to one. Ask about BetaSeron. I'm not a Doctor and I am not giving medical advice but BetaSeron helps my wife. If they mention Copaxine you want to be *very* careful about which choice you make.

Hopefully your support network is strong. If not, PM me and I can point you in a few directions.

Keep us posted.

Keep playing.

You aren't a heavy diet soda/pop drinker are you?

I had a friend in Ohio who was diagnosed with MS quite incorrectly and when he quit drinking 3-4 cans of soda a day, the symptoms completely went away.

Aspartame poisoning is REAL........really, really bad stuff.

Thanks everybody! Right now I guess im still in a bit of shock and I really dont have enought information to move forward. It was my family Doc that told me the news after reviewing my MRI. However, I have now been set up to see a specialist in the area. A neurologist. After I talk to him and see what he says and find out what stage Im in or even if the diagnosis was correct then I will feel better. Right now Im just going to continue with a business as usual motto. However, eating better and excersizing more are at the top of that list, and of course playing Guitar
