Thank John, seeing as you know something about photos I appreciate that. I did have Kevin do a little post processing to remove some glare, hot-spots etc. (Thanks Kevin.)

That's one gorgeous guitar. I especially love the look of the ziricote. How does the sound of the ziricote compare to EIR?

Thanks,
BK

Thanks,

Ya know I really don't like to generalize too much on the comparing woods as there can be worlds of differences within a board nevermind within a species. I remember one discussion about the tap tone on ziricote and some were claiming it was quite dead. I actually went and dug out 4 or 5 sets and began tapping all of the holding the nodes and banging on the antinodes in a couple of different places. The stuff I had rang out very simular to rosewood and had really nice sustain. Not at all dead. I didn't AvsB it with indian rosewood at the time, but it may not have had quite as metalic of a ring as the rosewood which actually might not be a bad thing on a 12 string.

My favorite guitar that I heard this summer was one Bill Tippin made from Sinker Redwood and African Blackwood. Ya know Bill is a great builder and could make an exceptional guitar out of just about anything, but boy this one just knocked my socks off. I have some sinker redwood in the shop but I have not built with or for that matter done any "testing" on it. When I choose the tops I did pick them for their tonal and stiffness characteristics before looks, but I do some measurements on all my tops before using them. I have not had a chance to do this on the Sinker Redwood, so I am not sure if the tops would be more suitable for a 12-string Jumbo, or better off on parlor guitar. After I finish a couple of other projects, I will be doing some wood eval, (hopefully in Oct) so I could maybe have a more definitive answer then. (Glad you liked the "No guitar for you" comment)

Great John...I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on sinker as a top for a 12 string. And BTW, I used a similar comment in a post I made on another thread - http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...6&postcount=13

John, I really like the ziricote veneer on the rear of this headstock. The sapwood ties in nicely with yellow covers of the gotohs...

Thanks Kevin,

We thought about using sapwood on the front of the headstock too, but thought it would "break" apart too much with the signature logo on there.

Wow, maybe one of the nicest looking 12ers I've ever seen, simply stunning...and the signature logo looks super classy
