Frets
Not all. I've seen the occasional one where there's an inlay at the bottom of the fingerboard and the last 3 or 4 frets are missing. More a style thing than anything else.

I always heard it was Johnny Cash.

I've seen it attributed to quite a few…
But whomever said it was not representative of the reality. I don't think Jeff Beck buys into it… |

Actually, I almost bought that to practice at work.
Still an option.

Now that's what I was hoping for in non cutaway guitars.

Maybe it's simply because it's better to have the option and not use it than to need it and not have it. It's also a more uniform look.

Perhaps my previous post was not clear.
I am not a Classical player nor am I building a Classical guitar. I am building a steel string guitar that just happens to have the body dimensions of a Classical guitar. My mentor has made a number of these guitars, braced for steel strings, that are shaped like a classical, and so the body form was already made and available. Using the pre-made form saved me a bunch of time. It's a very comfortable shape and dimension, somewhere between a 00 and a 000, with a balanced dynamic range. Because I don't play all the way up the neck, the 17 fret neck will be placed with 13 frets free of the body, but the fret board will continue to the sound hole, similar to the Otis Taylor Santa Cruz in the pictures. Who knows, I may not like it ultimately, but I think Ill try it on this one and see how it works out. |

It was started by GC to keep shredders out of the acoustic rooms... they figure it would drive them crazy and make them not want to pick up acoustic guitars.

Those are spares. When the first few frets begin to flatten, you can swap. Finish the song, first.

So if you don't like it, can you retro-fit the frets that are missing so you can sell it to someone who prefers frets all the way up the neck? |

Hi M123…
Again, those only have 20 frets (unless they are electric models) and you are assuming that only beginning players buy/play them, and that all beginners confine themselves to the lower frets on the fingerboard. |

I need to do that on first few frets.
