For nerding around I find the Studio Six Digital AudioTools app valuable for test tones and loudness meters.

There was an app originally called RealBook, which then went through several name changes (challenges from RealBook and Hal Leonard who owns the copyright being one), and now is called iReal Pro.

This isn't just for guitarist, but an indispensable tool for any musician who want to do almost pro recordings on the iPad.
