It's also worth noting that the old 15's and 17's were Style numbers, as in Style 15 and Style 17. They were constructed like every other Martin of the same period, but with different woods and appointments specific to that Style designation.

Today the 15, 16, and 17 guitars are different Series, as in 15 Series, 16 Series, and 17 Series. Each has unique construction features. They are not constructed like every other Martin.

Thank you as well Todd!

I've already sold two guitars that I thought I'd never part with. One was my very first acoustic, and HS grad present - an early 80's Takamine F340. The second was a gift for my 30th b-day from a group of friends and family - a 1997 Taylor 410. Although I kinda wish I still had the Tak, it was the sale of the '97 410 that I really regret. I just wasn't thinking that day, I guess. Fortunately, after several other guitars along the way, I got the opportunity to buy my dream guitar; my current Taylor 810. I couldn't be more grateful to have it, and I absolutely love it! I've learned my lesson, and this amazing 810 is here to stay.

The guitar my Dad bought for me 45 years ago and my first two builds will be with me until the end and plans are they stay in the family, but after I'm gone your guess is as good as mine.

All 3 of my present guitars are keepers. Doesn't mean I will always keep them. But in order to convince me otherwise would take a world class guitar the likes I've never seen. I traded 2 guitars and cash for my D28A 1937. Can't think of any guitar that would make me want to give it up.
In other words my guitars fulfill their expectations, so why get rid of any of them?
My Aria on the other hand needs a neck reset so it just sits there. Any offers?

I see a Taylor 514e FLTD 2013 in your signature. I'm actually in the process of selling mine now. It's a great guitar, but I have a Bedell TB 18G that I got for 1/5 the price of the Taylor and it sounds just as good if not better. Go figure.

Sometimes it works that way. As far as my Taylor, it's my go to guitar for church. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Made some changes and it sounds great plugged into PA.

Oh, yeah it's real eye candy also. I don't play live so I don't really need the electronics. The way the guitar market is now I can always by a great guitar for whatever the occasion may be. I actually have a hard time keeping myself from the classified section on this forum because every day I see something I feel like adding to my collection

At this moment, I cannot imagine parting with either one of my two Wingerts. But as far as saying never goes, and considering the most constant thing in the universe is change, I'll just leave it there.

Best,
Jayne

I have no intentions of parting with my Rockbridge...ever. I picked the woods, the neck is best neck I've ever felt/played, I love the tone and I just can't see ever wanting to part ways.

I like to think so, but I know me way to well to ever say that. Right now I am thinning my herd and upgrading using the funds to buy what I really want. Once that is done, I hope to be done buying and selling guitars.

The Peavey in my signature stays.

Given to me by my wife for Christmas. She went to the local music store and knowing her, made the salesman play every one before she made up her mind.

I asked her how she picked that one and she said it sounded better to her. That's good enough for me.

I try not to say "never," because life is full of surprises. I have about a dozen really good guitars. I wanted to experience a range of guitars, so I spent some time and money, and I have been happy with what I have learned. I don't see myself getting rid of any of my guitars in the near term, though I know that I have a date with destiny at some point where my guitars and I will surely be separated.

My Martin D-35 was given to me by my late father back in 1969 when I turned 21. So this guitar has sentimental value to me and it also sounds very good. But I could see my giving this guitar to my oldest son at some point, since he is a guitar player and he knows the value of this guitar. It's going to go to him at some point.

But I also have some guitars that I really, really appreciate -- my Olson SJ, my Sheppard GA, my Santa Cruz FS and OM/PW guitars --as just a few examples. I would not want to get rid of any of these guitars any sooner than necessary.

The only one I will never sell is my Ron Kirn Tele that bares my wife's name on the headstock.
