I would check out The Sire guitars....Solid top and back w/electronics $379 at S.W.
I would also second the Alvarez MD60BG or MF version MD610BG if you can find one used because they are $729 but can be had cheaper if you look hard...

Thanks again for all the wonderful replies. I pulled the trigger on one of these this this morning on the Musicians Friend Stupid Deal of the Day. It's an GA instead of a Dread, but like the specs. We'll see how it sounds/feels when it gets here. Might also pick up a Yamaha 800 series to compare. 2 is 1 and 1 is none.

At that price, the Ibanez AW54OPN. All mahogany construction, solid mahogany top. Its a good sounding guitar for about $200 new, less than that used. Mine seems pretty good with going outside...
